Thumbsucker

Yesterday the Netflix fairy left Thumbsucker in my mailbox. I couldn't remember why the hell i even wanted it, but damn it, that film was GREAT! It's a journey about a boy who finds great comfort sucking his thumb at 17. His father hates it, his mother ignores it, and so on. Anyway, the real meat of the film is that we all are these scared beings and we are constantly fighting to find comfort. Some of us compete; some entertain fun and ridiculous notions; work constantly; do drugs; or even strive to be "normal". This film made me feel like it was streamed from my own consciencense(pardon the spelling if it's spelled all wrong)...even the music by the Polyphonic Spree just seemed perfect. Another reason why i dug it, is because when a person wakes up one day- like i did about two years ago- and realizes "omg. i'm a grown- up!" they assume that they must have all the answers. We don't have all the answers. Maybe there are no answers. Maybe the answer is 42. We just gotta find that balance between sanity and insanity that takes a lifetime to maintain! Just because we thought our parents had all the answers, the truth of the matter is they are just as scared as you are. Watch this film and you too will realize that we are all thumbsuckers.
