Nothing Like Insomnia...

Nothing like insomnia to get the creative juices flowing. I laid in bed with my husband at the ripe hour of 9:45pm and at almost 11pm i decided to head to the computer room and play some Bubble Bobble and play with my favorite art program since i was far from sleepy. The heartburn surely didn't help either.
One of my hobbies is digital art using any program (Corel 9- yea its old but still new to me after 6 years; Paintshop Pro- had this years before the Corel; Publisher; PictureIt- another old program; Windows Paint). My digital work is my baby and i think i can really do something with it one day (aka make some cash off of it). I guess i'm aiming for Top Seeded amateur status when it comes to my work. I am really proud of the images i create based on a simple idea that floated around in my head like a grape frozen in jello (yummm...jello).
I don't think i am a very good painter even though i have tried and tried again. My drafting skills come off quite cartoony- i don't mind. I have been researching illustrators at the library and the net and i am amazed that it is a legitimate art form. My mosaicing is pretty awesome but very messy to do. But alas, i always go back to my computerized canvas.
I make cards (birthday, birth announcements, moving, valentine's day, etc.,) all the time. I made journals and planners (that took months of planning). I even had a newsletter that i sent out several years ago called the Wilfong Weekly..lmao. It was hilarious! it gave me an outlet to show my family and friends my work whilst informing them of what's up in the world of me.
Tonite's inspiration was Isabella, Hearts and Flowers. I call this my Isy Garden. I'm going to try and get this made into a fridge magnet. I saw something on how to do it on Crafters Coast to Coast a couple of years ago. We'll see. OMG. I think that was a yawn. I'm going to go to try and sleep.

Bubble Bobble Kicks Ass!!

Recently we decided to rid ourselves of items no longer of any use to us at the flea market. In the midst of our findings we discovered a Dreamcast system (that i've technically sold twice on eBay but people are always in the hospital or someone has died) and an old school Nintendo System.
We didn't have a lot of games for either but i must mention the one game i have managed to hold on for as long as i can: Bubble Bobble. Okay, it sounds like a childish game. In fact it is, but do you have any idea how many people i got addicted to this game?! How many hours i spent playing this game in my lifetime?! It's on right now on pause because i have to sing it's praises.
The game is simply an endless number of levels that gives Bub, and in 2 player mode, Bob trap creatures in bubbles and once they are popped, they turn into a tasty treat like apples, cherries, etc!
I don't know how many others are addicted to this game. Here i am at 27 (28 in almost a week) playing the game like i'm still the 9 year old playing it in my cubby i called a bedroom..lol The only difference is that i can cuss at the baddies without worry that my mom will catch me.

Read: Jennifer Weiner

I am back to my reading! I have finished 2 books since the new year- that's more than what i read last year..lol. I recently finished Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner. Wonderful! I read all 400 pages in 4 days..lol. The book follows several women through their early journeys of motherhood (the magic, the loss, the stress). Read it! You won't be sorry. It has something for everyone. I feel [an imaginary] closeness to Ms. Weiner. Back in Maryland, i went to her book signing for her first novel "good in bed". I was working as a receptionist/ admin asst at the Associated Press and one day Andie MacDowell came by for an interview. She saw my book and said that it had a catchy title. We spoke briefly about it. "you reckon it'll be a movie?" she asked in her thick Carolina accent. I immediately emailed Ms. Weiner and she responded with "janelle, you are my hero"! A week later was her book signing and she actually remembered me and thanked me in front of a crowd of people! I was so excited that i vowed to read EVERYTHING she wrote. Last year she had a film come out based on her novel titled In Her Shoes. I didn't get a chance to see until last night (watched it twice!) and i really hope that Good in Bed and Little Earthquakes also make it to the big (or small) screen.

All is Good!

All is good on the baby front. I had a visit with good ol' Dr. Simmons and he has assured me that our little peanut is doing simply fine. He did scold me for going to another hospital and doctor, but i promised him that i would never doubt him again. For all those who gave me such great moral support when i called them in tears, thanks a mil!
