Have you ever had a hankerin' for the biggest Snickers Bar that you have ever seen? You just have the most wicked munchies and regular sized Baby Ruth just won't satisfy? I suggest you refer to the UK based site Pimp My Snack.com. Being a pregnant woman, i always have the munchies. This site gives instructions and estimated cost on creating these "pimped" out desserts. Willy Wonka would nut himself!

Sleep pose

Apparently i am a "Cliffhanger" when it comes to sleeping (when i actually get to it). Don't get me wrong, i love my husband so much that its scary that i'm sharing my bed with my best friend and we aren't braiding eachother's hair and telling our deepest secrets (we do draw on eachother on occation though...lol). We use to be "spooners" but after sharing the "family bed" and the flip flop of sleep schedules, we have to sleep on opposite sides. Its all for the best.
Just last night after the hubby left for work at 2:15am, our 17 1/2 month old daughter woke up for the seemingly 10th time that i brought her in our bed. Can i tell you that she has become a bed hog this past year (she started sleeping in her own bed about 8 months ago)!? She stretched to all corners smacking me dead in my face with every motion..lmao At one point i even was huddled at the foot of the bed while she had care of 3 pillows and the whole Queen sized bed! I woke to her big browns at 8:30 am (an hour before i usually wake) trying to climb into the window sill above our bed...oh and the worst charlie horse and dead arm. I knew we should of gotten a King sized bed a couple months ago..lol

Cheaper by the Dozen

This afternoon's movie was Cheaper by the Dozen starring Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin. I've seen the 1950's original but this "remake" just shares the title. It was really funny and will definitely make an appearance in my DVD library (It has Tom Welling in it too. Can you say yumm?!?!)
I have to say that the large family appeals to me. My father had 12 brothers and sisters growing up. My mom had 7. Both in on a tiny, beautiful island in the Caribbean. Isn't that awesome?! I was born into an immediate family that gave me one brother who was 7 years older (can you say big brother bully?..lol). Its not that i was unsatisfied with having a small family, but i always felt like i should of been born in a family of like 10 kids..lol
In all the stories i wrote as a child, i had them take place in huge families that lived and worked together. Got along like the gosh darn Brady Bunch. Now that i'm beginning my own family, i wonder about how many will we actually have.
I have been advised by few that i should stop after this next one, especially if it's a boy, but you wanna know a secret: I want as many as God will let me pop out. I do understand that it takes a great responsibility (and cash flow) to support a large family (we're eccentric, not dumb).
I don't know how many women can say this but i say it with the strongest conviction that i was born to be a mom (i actually love being pregnant..lmao). I adore my family. Anywhere with them is my favorite place to be. People try to discourage us about having a big family with horror stories and negativity. It is understood that it is coming from a place of love [maybe] but how can you tell two people who are up to the responsibility that they shouldn't do something? That just sucks! Shouldn't they be proud and supportive that we are not popping out kids and not caring two cents about 'em? I say {censored} to those people.
Maybe we'll only have 2 or 3. Possibly 5 or 6. I don't know. We'll see what happens in the end.

A Day at the Beach

I LOVE living so close to the beach! We reside in a sunny community 10 miles from folly beach in South Carolina. Today my daughter and i spent a glorious 90 degree day playing in the surf and sand. I even made some new (hopeful) friends that have a son.
We arrived at 11:15am and didn't leave until 4:30pm. We both got tans despite applying sunblock every hour, and here is the joke: the little one has a poka dot tan! The sun just came right through every white poka dot on her navy blue swimsuit.
I think we will definitely will make the beach a weekly trip until the baby comes. Our daughter loves the water and rolling in the sand. When the hubby comes with, he likes to dig holes and try and also find someone to play soccer..lol Me? I love watching my family having fun. It's better than tv!

I Gotta Banner Now

I'm new to this whole world of blogger/ html blah blah. Since the genesis of this blog i've tried to make mine a cozy place where interested people can witness my eccentricities and creative exploits.
Thanks to a fellow blogger i was able to revamp my whole page so that i could get a banner i threw together on Corel up. It took me a few days to get the coding (surprisingly simple) correct and viola! There it is. I'm so proud..sniff.

Zazzling Zazzle

I must share this with you all. I recently signed up for a yahoo/Flickr account and discovered a wonderful option to do with my photos. From your account you can make your own USPS stamps via Zazzle.com. For $16 you will get a book of 20 personalized stamps. There is a laundry list of stipulations but still the possibilities are endless!
Being the person that i am, i've already been fooling around with Corel to create something truly unique. I can't wait to catch up with my correspondents!

In Fashion

For as long as i can remember i had a affinity for all fashions from an era way before my time. I would watch I Love Lucy, Donna Reed and My Three Sons and think that they had the coolest clothing. The ballet flats. The mod sunglasses. The paisley prints. My favorite pictures of my mother were of her in her frosted lipstick with bee hive hair and a skirt so full i haven't a clue how she sat down..lol
As i entered my teen years i still loved everything Mod, but i started watching Laugh-in and The Monkees (wasn't Davy Jones ever so dreamy?..lol) reruns from the 1960s and those Gidget films from the 50s/ 60s (Gidgit Goes Hawaiian RULZ!!!!). The colors were so bright and vivid. The psychedelic prints made my head spin in the greatest way. It was then i started using "far out" and "groovy" to everyone despite the stares and snickering.
Fast forward more than ten years later i still search for [affordable] sewing patterns of pencil and full skirts like my fashion icons wore in those black and white television programs. Wouldn't they look perfect with a pair of Jackie Kennedy big- ass sunglasses and Audrey Hepburn like ballet flats?! I once even found a vintage dashiki (tunics) in my mother's dresser from the 70s but it was way too small for my breasts..lol I know that all that is the rage in fashion these days. My mother and father keep saying "i can't believe they are wearing that again"! rolling their eyes. I can easily get any of my dream wardrobe from my local Old Navy or JCPenny even, but you know, it saddens me. I guess i really loved those fashions 'cause they were modest (well, most of the time. Those skirts were damn short. My ass needs a lot of fabric to cover it up), feminine, classic, and of course hard to get in the 1980s and 90s.
I call myself an unconformist; not an anarchist, but i do strive to go against the norm as much as possible. I like being the black sheep. It's fun and fulfilling. I feel like i am my own person and i don't succumb to the marketing machines. So I hate that everywhere i look i see everyone wearing the clothes i've idealized just because some no talent shook her ass in a music video flaunting it! I'm bummed that if i actually had money to spend on these items (lmao) i'm looking like everyone else.
White shades. I can get at Claires like everyone else.
Tunics. Target just had a sale.
Ballet flats are now featured at Payless Shoes.
Oh well, if i really don't care about what other people think then it shouldn't really bother me anyway. On the surface i'll look like another carbon copy but on the inside i'll still be me (cue the applause..lol)

Overexposuritis

I am an off again on again Tom Cruise fan, but of the late i've become worried about Tom Cruise. He's about to suffer carreer suicide due to his pretentiousness.
He's been all over tv talking about how "in love" he is with his teen, um, i mean, beautifully knocked up, er, glowing bride (for the record, i have loved Katie Holmes since the film Go. I still stand behind my hatered of Dawson's Creek..long live 90210!!!). His love for his cult- that's not nice- religion. His love for his family. His love for his carreer. His love for his ego. He's just so overly good that it gives suspect that there lurks an evil secret. Sorry, but no one is that good.
I am not one to watch, read or be interested in any Hollywood muck because i do have a life of my own, but when i pick up the morning paper (and this past Sunday's) i am being force fed Tom Cruise mania!
He, i believe, will suffer public backlash as we have seen with once greats- and i mean popular not meaningful- like Michael Jackson, Brittnay Spears and Madonna.
Poor poor little man. I don't think he sees that he has a case of Over- exposouritis.

From the cupcake nite

I wash so proud of my cupcakes that i had to capture my family enjoying them. The librarians said that they had to fight for the last cupcake (i gave a dozen to them and to my OBGYN).

Dirty What?!?!?

For the last year i have been curious to what in fact was a "dirty sanchez". I heard it in a tangent of foul sounding sexual acts in a speech in Forty Year Old Virgin (rent it, buy it, love it) and again tonight in the audio commentary of Fun with Dick and Jane (written and produced by a Freaks & Geeks alumn Judd Apatow).
The hubby googled it and the answer was disturbingly loathsome. More retched then snowballing (heard and defined in Clerks).

Pump up the Volume

Today i feel nostalgic.
I watch Pump Up the Volume as i relax on the couch sketching in my journal. I gotta suggest everyone watch it. I use to play it and once it ended, rewind and start over.
The film makes sense more now then back when it came out (instead of pirating airwaves, we blog to be heard uncensored..lol). I wasn't that dischanted with my youth as the kids in the prolific Christian Slater flick, but i ate that movie up. I loved the soundtrack too. Leonard Cohen has such an interesting sound.
Watch out for camoes from: Seth Green, Samantha Mathis, Ahmet Zappa, Cheryl Pollack, James Hampton and Lin Shaye

Holy Canolli

I made an amazing dish tonight. I made a Spinach Cannolli. OMG. It took less than an one hour to prepare and bake.
Back when i was finacially very secure in Maryland, i frequented Borders Books (Kst and 13th) during lunch and bought a new book every few days. Their sale racks were always full of cookbooks under $10. I bought a Martha Storey one afternoon; was discouraged by the lack of pictures and never opened it again.
Fast foward 6 years later and it is my most used cookbook. Stained with chocolate, pasta sauce and butter. The book is virtually idiot proof and is full of easy and yummy recipies and crafts. Pick up a copy!!!

Fake it until you Make it

Tonite i officially sewed my first piece (from a pattern)! It's rough but still a great acheivement (for the great procrastinator). I wanted to quit pattern M4958 but i said "nay! I'll finish thee with great elation and patience.
It was an apron like the kind Donna Reed use to wear (one of my childhood idols..lol) but never wanted to spend a lot of money on:
Pattern: $1.99
Fabric: $3.00
Fuseable Interfacing: $1.25
Satisfaction of finishing a project: Priceless
The man hours were long since i had no idea what i was doing (what in the hell is Pink? What is the difference between a narrow stich and an edgestich?) and clocked in 4 hours and my dear Norma Rae (my sewing machine. We should name all our appliances don't you think?) even bit me and i went bloody for a few minutes..lol

Back in Time

On our family walk yesterday, we saw a freakin' DeLorean! I've only seen one once as it stood sad, dejected, dusty and For Sale. I wonder if flux capacitors are standard?

Walk the Line

You know what love story i thought was so beautifully protrayed on film was? Walk the Line.
OMG. That film made me go straight to the library and reserve Cash by Johnny Cash and check out At Folsom Prison! I never knew who Johnny and June were until about 2 years ago. I loved his rendition of a Nine Inch Nails song Hurt and a Beatles cover.
The love story was tragic (at times) and sooooooooo beautifully climatic. I watched the film 2x in 12 hours. The commentary was quite educational on music history of that time.
I know why Reese Witherspoon got that Oscar (FYI- Phlip S. Hoffman was AWSOME in Capote and much deserving of that Oscar. I've loved him since Twister and Boogie Nights). She and Joaquin Pheonix(yum) had chemistry. Acted so naturally that i completely forgot i was watching the girl who lost her virginity to Mark Walberg and Ryan Phillipe;and the kid who went to SpaceCamp (you forgot, didn't you?).

Brokeback Mountain Sucked

I finally got to see Brokeback Mountain, and can i say that i was absolutely disappointed. What in the hell was all the hype for?!
i was expecting this rhapsodical tale of star crossed lovers. It turned out to be a predictable anticlimatic movie about two insipid dudes in love. 2 dudes that i personally believe lacked on- screen chemistry and i just didn't buy it. I love a good unconventional love story, but this film was nothing but hype. It was an oversensationalized, trite love story (if you wanna see an unconventional love story, watch Tipping the Velvet. That was real good).
It started off real...blah...then Boom! Heath is butt f-ing Jake. WTF?! It came out of NOWHERE!!!! It was almost too in your face and out of place. I realistically could not see it. There were no flirtaous looks. Or an accidental hand slip. There was one scene where Jake witnesses Heath washing himself, but that was like it. I'm still shaking my head.
I will not be surprised if i am in the minority here of persons who disliked the picture (the homophobs don't count), but what was so special about this picture? I personally believe that the only reason that this film got all the attenton and glory was because it was a mainstream film about an alternative (and often time secretive) lifestyle. For the public to finally say, "okay, i can go to the movies and not care that the protagonist is homosexual," That's awsome, but for that alone i applaud the film.
So i give the film a big fat thumbs down. I won't recommend anyone see it. I won't even watch it again (2hrs + hours i will never get back). The film took place in a captivating enviornment, but i don't believe Ang Lee deserved that Oscar. Sorry.
I did though love the cast. I was so surprised that i had a Freaks and Geeks alumn; Anne Hathaway (OMG I saw the Princess' boobies. I'm totally shocked.);Randy Quaid- who is actually suing which is dumb 'cause he was in the film for a grand total of 5 minutes in a forgettable role; Anna Faris (MD represent!!) and Michelle Williams who i've admired since If These Walls Could Talk 2 and The Station Agent (i hated that Dawson's Creek crap).

Who's Afraid of the Dark?

Tonight's homemade feast: Chicken Tenders and Mac 'n' Cheese followed by banana splits for dessert. My God, i am so full and am afraid to lay down for bed.
Why am i afraid you ask? One word- nightmares."Hello everyone. I'm afraid of the dark".
The hubby kinda scolded me last night for having too many lights on when it comes time for bed. For the last several weeks i've been turning on an extra light attempting to sneak some infantile comfort in the pitch black bed room. The walls are chocolate so when the lights are off its dark as a cave. I don't dig that.
On nights like tonight, when i have had a HUGE meal that hasn't exactly settled by "lights out", i always seem to have nightmares. I wake up sweating and scared and all i want is some reassurance that the monsters are in fact imaginary. Is that too much to ask?..lol
I use to sleep to the flickering lights of a television set growing up (..okay. Until the hubby and I started shacking up almost 7 years ago. He didn't need to know i was that crazy yet). That was the luxury of having my own room. In college, my roommate didn't mind a night light (but i only lasted not even half way through my second year in dorm life so i got away with it for another 2 years).
Presently, the hubby has taken a paper route that begins his days (everyday) at 1:15am. "i need to go to sleep, baby". He whines. So i took the hall light off; the bathroom light off; and moved the tiny lamp- made for a child no less (ps...i know i'm a pu$$y. I'm not too proud to share it) into the closet. It's not a lot of light, but its enough to sooth me like a security blanket. I understand that the nightlight is a crutch and at almost 30, i should be able to sleep peacefully in the darkness...but don't you see that shadow moving in the corner?
